Future Music gave one lucky Twitter follower the opportunity to have their track mastered by the best in the business
Maz is a dude, he mastered my last record. he likes punk.
hey, remember that time when we made a 90 second video to a song about girls and trains in London that centres around a quote by Charles Bukowski.
some people said the song sounded like Brand New the other day, which has to be the biggest compliment in the history of recorded compliments.
this is tomorrow at The Macbeth in London. 17/1/13

Tracklisting:

The artwork was done by Sophie Porter (click here for her blog!)and the EP will be available (digital only) to download from my bandcamp site until December 31st.
The tracks are totally free to download, although I felt it was good chance to raise some money for some good people.
The reason I chose this charity was from seeing how this disease affected a grandparent of mine; what started as “a little forgetful” back in 2006, led to her soon forgetting the names of her friends and family, after being diagnosed with Vascular Dementia, she started to need constant care, although she eventually lost her sense of reasoning and struggled to communicate basic emotions as well as becoming physically weaker. After a series of falls that led to Esophageal Dysphagiashe (an inability to swallow), she died on October 24th 2012.
The truth is, she’d been lost for years before that, with doctors only willing to diagnose her with “depression” despite symptoms showing up long before that, if a correct diagnosis had be made and the condition had been jumped on earlier then the half decade decay that I could only sit and watch would’ve surely been more manageable. You can’t die from dementia but an early diagnosis would’ve led to a more stable decline, The Alzheimer’s Society helps raise awareness and goes a long way to help and support those in need.
“Covers” will be out on December 11th over at www.burndaylight.bandcamp.com.
A few words on the process of the artwork by Dan Bond. Working with Emma and then Dan was the easiest decision I’ve made with this EP, they are two of my favourite creatives and the end result was unexpected but totally beautiful.
Emma also told me that the paper-cutting out idea came when she asked me to write a few paragraphs on the record, somewhere near the end I said
“its about realising that you’re not cut out the way you thought you’d be”
Burn Daylight Album artwork.
This was a pretty extensive piece of paper-cutting down by Emma Smith (emiloumakes) and I was just drafted into get the photo of the result of her work. We tried a number of techniques for quite a few hours to get this right. It’s difficult to light white-on-white card which has little texture, so positioning my lights was crucial to try to capture Emma’s intricate work, and I found the whole thing frustratingly tedious. But we got there and managed to find something a little different to what we expected to get. Check the record out here too: http://soundcloud.com/burndaylight/sets/young-lions
